Jorge Gil gave a presentation "Future transport: the view from urban design" at this year's Chalmers Areas of Advance Initiative Seminar 2021, on the theme "Where are we going? Trends and research directions in transports".
Session 3, Transport and urban development, looked at how new transport solutions connect with urban development, to create attractive cities with climate-neutral, efficient and safe transports of people and goods. Jorge's presentation invited the development of shared visions of the future as opposed to conflicting utopias (or dystopias, depending on the perspective); and to accept the messy reality of out cities instead of searching for optimal solutions.
The presentation was followed by a panel discussion with the other session presenters and guests.
