In July, at the XXVI International Seminar of Urban Form (ISUF), Meta Berghauser Pont presented the first results of the MaGNA project, studying the relation between urban form, controlling for density, and both noise and air pollution. What seems to be optimal to reduce noise exposure, is not necessarily doing well from the perspective of air pollution. Calculating the combined health effect of both air and noise pollution would therefore be an important next step to seriously address these tradeoffs.
