Urban planning for safe future mobility: evaluating the impact of e-scooters on travelpatterns and traffic safety, to guide policy making and infrastructure design

The project is funded by the Formas Planning Grant (Planning for Transformation, Stage 1) and is a collaboration of the SMoG with the Crash Analysis and Prevention unit at Chalmers. The aim is to develop a research proposal that will be submitted and evaluated at Stage 2. The overall aim of the project is to investigate the impact of the introduction of e-scooters on travel patterns and traffic safety in cities, using real-world data analysis, to propose spatial planning solutions that consider e-scooters in the design of future streets towards more sustainable, safe and inclusive cities.
